Day 15

We're at the halfway point in the month! If you're on track, you've got approximately 25,000 words written. If you're behind, don't worry, there's still plenty of time to catch up. If you've surpassed that, then go on with your awesome self!

Either way, keep on writing! Don't stop to reread or to edit - you can edit in June! For now, just get that first draft down on paper.

So.... What's your word count?

  1. Well, I'm glad blogger's back, but it didn't make that much of a difference for me. I only managed to add about another 500 words on Friday - pesky thing called work required I actually do some. Then IT took the laptop and didn't bring it back for almost two hours. At least my HD is okay this time - he just dropped it into another shell until I can get a new one. My computer luck just keeps getting worse. So I topped out at approx. 2600 for Friday and did nothing at all yesterday.

We're off to daughter's dance competition now - and I'll have 2 hours plus on either side of her actual dancing that I plan to bring my laptop and ignore all the other moms for a bit and find a corner somewhere to write. I have two scenes I really need to get down, so that's my goal for today no matter when or how I do it.

  2. I'm at 12,630 for the month with 9,455 on my new WIP. And I have written EVERY SINGLE DAY on my WIP which is almost more important than actual word count right now. I do have do a little editing this week as I get a contest submission ready to go, but then it's on to plowing ahead. It is hard to resist the urge to go back and fix scenes and add layering that you KNOW you you will have to do and that you can already see how to do!

  3. Great job Gianna! Maybe you could make a couple quick notes to yourself about things you want to do later to revise - that way you won't worry about forgetting what needs to be added, etc.

I spent some time figuring out the order/outline of my last few chapters. Now I just need to figure out, ya know, the middle. Oy.

I wrote 1K and I'm going to write another 1K to put me at 2k for the day and 25K into the WIP.

  5. Go go go! :) A solid day - I love your discipline. I've decided I'm not going to try for specific numbers. Cause every time I think I'm gonna have that time available, it somehow manages to disappear!

I hit 2124 for the day - grand total on ms is 26,147. Added some stuff earlier, I know technically, I'm not supposed to, but I needed some character development, so I wrote a couple pages and added them to earlier scenes. Technically not revising, and all those words were entirely new!

And tomorrow's Monday. Again. How the hell does it come up so damn fast?

  6. Well if you're adding words instead of just revising words you already had, I don't see any problem with adding in earlier scenes!

After all, the one and only rule is to write 50K :)

  7. Well, I did get 2331 in for Sunday which brought my total to 32458 as of Sunday.

I am doing edits so i most likely will not get any writing done till really late this evening.

  8. That's great! I had to review the galleys for my upcoming novella yesterday, but I was still able to crank out my 2K :) Woot!
